Blocker: Tempest Block

Tempest Block, originally posted by mustard pie

With the 2025/06/24 patch, core ele got a new skill which makes blocking all spits and drools much easier on all ele specs. This build focuses on Tempest, which i believe benefits the most from this skill.

(Difficulty: Medium-Easy)

Traits,
Earth (3,2,2) | Water (1,x,2) | Tempest (3,2,3) or (3,2,2)
Skills,
Signet of Restoration | Mist Form | Earth Shield | Arcane Echo | “Rebound!”
Weapons,
Dagger + Focus (No substitutions!)
Animation Patterns,
Start of Fight: Place earth shield. Auto attack ONCE if you need to find the block spot. Block the large spin(s) with Stone Sheath (ES2).
Double Spits: Obsidian Flesh -> Arcane Echo -> Obsidian Flesh (Can use Fortify [ES5] as Backup)
Egg Spits: Magnetic Wave (E4) + Ring of Earth (E2) OR Swirling Winds (A4)
Small Spins: Obsidian Flesh (if husks are NOT coming) > Mist Form > Fortify (ES5)
Large Spins: Stone Sheath (ES2) > Overload Earth (you will take damage!)

Arcane Echo,
This is Elementalist’s new skill which makes this build much easier than ever before. The way this skill works:
Instant cast, meaning it can be activated during other skill casts,
Puts a buff on you for 10 seconds which is consumed when a weapon skill finishes casting and goes on cooldown,
The cooldown of that weapon cast becomes 1 second, while the cooldown of Arcane Echo (which started at 15 seconds) is increased by the cooldown of the weapon skill (AFTER all modifiers, such as traits),
Has no effect on Conjured Weapon skills.,
Arcane Echo should be used exclusively to reset the cooldown of Obsidian Flesh, Earth Focus 5. You can activate Arcane Echo up to 5 seconds before, or any time during (recommended), the cast of Obsidian Flesh.
Be very careful not to accidentally activate Magnetic Wave (Focus 4) while Arcane Echo is up or you will waste echo on that skill instead.

Alacrity,
Because it wouldn’t be a Mustard blocking build without some boon support.
Tempest now has two ways to generate Alacrity. Either will give plenty of alacrity to yourself and others.

Elemental Bastion,
This Tempest trait gives Alacrity to allies that gain your auras. This must be combined with Powerful Aura (Water), which gives any Aura you get to 5 nearby allies.
With this combo there are a few ways to generate Alacrity:
While Blocking
Completing Earth Overload,
“Rebound!” (if it doesn’t protect you from a death blow),
Signet of Restoration (triggers twice),
During burn phases
Completing any Overload,
Air dagger 3,
Fire focus 5,

Lucid Singularity,
This Tempest trait gives you and nearby allies Alacrity directly: some pulsing during overloads, and a big burst when completing an overload.
This simplifies Alacrity generation, so you can use Overloads during burn phases and not have to worry about other weapon skills.
You also do not need Water traits with this setup. Water will give you better self (and group) healing, but if you’re sure you don’t need that, you can exchange that for one of the other trait lines for more burn phase damage.
While blocking
If you never leave Earth Attunement, only Overload will give you Alacrity.,
During burns
You have time to complete 3-4 Overloads during burns. Air, Fire, and Earth do respectable damage, and Water heals allies. If you open with Overload Earth, Earth Attunement will be off cooldown by the time the burn ends.,

For advanced users (both builds):,
While blocking and when husks are on cooldown, you can dip into other attunements and use either Aura or Overload skills for alacrity between animations. It’s possible to fully block everything without any alacrity, but it can make things easier for some animation patterns. Remember that you must be able to return to Air or Earth for eggs, and Earth for husks.
