“Crit” Points
In order to achieve a controlled decap, where all three wurms are decapitated within 60 seconds, we rely on bringing each of the wurms down to “crit”, which is defined as the critical point where the lowest damage the zerg could possibly do in a 30 second burn will decapitate the wurm.
As a rule of thumb for new commanders:
Safe crit points after 3 burns are 15-20 %
Safe crit points after 2 burns are 25-30% provided that no extend took place, and 20-25% with an extend on one of the burns.
Safe crit points after a single burn are 35-40% provided that no extend took place.
If in doubt, or if you find yourself just above “safe” crit, do a “mini burn” to bring the wurm down to a safer level.
Anything below 10% is considered low – you should have called off early.
Anything below 5% at amber is extremely risky, as a 1-2% crit can risk a “valve decap”.
When crit is reached, you should give necessary commands to the zerg to ensure they stop mechanics and call crit in map chat as a soon as possible.
Sync Procedure
Commanders should take mental note of the character names of the other squad commanders as well as of teachers assisting or shadowing a learner before the event starts.
Almost all sync calls are prefixed with your wurm. For example “crimson crit”.
Abbreviating is allowed as long as it’s unambigious. “Crim crit” is fine “C crit” is not.
All comms must call their crits in map chat to start the sync.
- All comms call their crits in map chat.
- Cobalt may propose a time when calling crit if it’s the last to crit. Otherwise, Amber proposes a sync time.
- All other commanders must either OK the time or propose a later time.
- Once all three commanders OK the time, all three commanders will then CONFIRM the time to make sure it’s understood.
- Commanders will continue to hold their mechanics and monitor the situation at their wurm while awaiting the “amber in” call. If anything occurs before the “amber in” call that would prevent the ability to sync, such as an early abom kill or blue fill, insufficient players being eaten at Amber, or a desperate need to clear adds, commanders may call for a RESYNC, which restarts the sync procedure.
- At the designated time, amber kills its abom and announces it in map chat while cobalt and crimson stand ready.
- After killing abom, amber announces stacking in map chat.
- After sufficient players (25+) have been swallowed to harpoon the wurm even with a few misses, amber announces “amber in” in map chat.
- Crimson and Cobalt begin their final mechanics (filling blue, running kegs)
