Setup and Defense Squad

When to set up defense squad?

The first defense player online should set up defense squad. Typically defense squad is set up around xx:30, and at the latest, by xx:35.

Leading Setup

The person who sets up defense squad, or the taxi at slots with integrated defense is the de facto “setup person” who is responsible for making sure roles are filled and keeping track of signups.

As the “setup person” you are responsible for organizing that particular map instance, keeping the guild informed of what is still needed, and aiming to have at least a blocker and a commander for each wurm by 5 minutes before split.

You are also responsible for posting the finalized comm/blocker roster assignments just before split, so that everyone understands what role they are doing.

Calling for Help

If you are still missing roles and do not have fills by xx:45, you should reach out to other TT guilds via Discord for coverage.

Integrated Defense

Community time slots such as NA’s “Zombie Slot” as well as some Triple Trouble Guilds regularly run integrated defense, and do not have a dedicated defense squad at all. At these time slots, the taxi squad, guild chat, and discord are used to organize roles.

Time slots that normally run a defense squad may choose to run integrated defense when numbers are low or when running with minimum staffing – in this event, the defense squad will be disbanded at split.

Split and Going Dark

At the designated split time of xx:55 or xx:50, the defense tag “goes dark” by setting the squad to private, while keeping “anyone can join” selected. This hides the commander tag from the minimap, while keeping the defense squad joinable.

Recap

After the fight, most TT guilds assemble for “recap” back at Firthside Vigil. Recap is a brief review of what happened during the wurm, in order to note any problems and discuss possible solutions.
During recap, the defense squad makes itself visible again so that anyone can join, and the commanders and blockers are polled for their reports.

Traditionally, the order of calling crit is the order used to report in at recap, however, the person running recap may choose to change the order or to call on a person who needs to leave first.
